Junior Ride Event – 2026 Tatts Finke Desert Race
Are you 10 to 15 years old and want to be a future Finke racer?!
The Tatts Finke Desert Race is excited to introduce the Junior Ride Event, giving young riders the chance to experience desert riding on the iconic Finke Prologue Track.
Held in Alice Springs on Friday 5 June 2026, this event provides a safe, professionally managed, non-competitive environment for junior riders to ride in real Finke conditions and be part of the race atmosphere.
Important: This is a demonstration event only – there is no racing, timing, results or prizes.
Why take part?
The Junior Ride Event is designed to:
- Introduce young riders to desert racing conditions.
- Build confidence and skills in a structured environment.
- Support future pathways into competitive junior desert racing.
- Give riders the unique experience of being part of the 2026 Tatts Finke Desert Race in it’s 50th year.
Event Details
- Date: Friday 5 June 2026
- Location: Finke Prologue Track, Alice Springs
- On-track activity: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
- Sign-in & briefings: From 10:00am
Riders will take part in three 20-minute sessions in grouped, controlled conditions.
Who can enter?
- Age: 10 to under 16 years
- Capacity: Up to 100 riders (limited places per class)
- Riders must compete in an approved class based on age and bike capacity
Eligibility Requirements
To participate, riders must:
- Hold a current Motorcycling Australia Junior National Licence
- Have appropriate ambulance cover
- Ride a motorcycle that meets class requirements under MA regulations
No recreational or one-day licences are permitted.
Safety First
This event is fully supervised and run under strict safety protocols, including:
- Qualified officials and marshals.
- Sweep riders.
- On-site medical services with ambulance support.
- Transponders used for rider tracking (not timing).
